About Alex

Alex teaches the emotional and communication skills we should've learned in school, but never did.
She facilitates experiential workshops and courses, including on subjects like how to: fight with someone you love, stop people-pleasing, listen better, navigate big life shifts, and so much more.
Her workshops are engaging, smart, deep, practical, and, against all odds, shockingly fun.
Alex has been teaching at Yale since she was 27. There, she created and currently offers a highly popular course called The Self & Other: In Theory and Practice.
She’s the founder of Lifeshop, a school for adult emotional education in New York.
Alex re-launched The School of Life's live events in the US in 2025.
Her work on conflict is featured by Simon Sinek.
She has studied dozens of modalities of communication, facilitation, mindfulness, and personal development, including:
-
Lived and trained at Plum Village and Esalen
-
3 facilitation masterclasses: 300-hour Mindfulness Teacher Training, Advanced Integral Facilitation
-
Communication tools including: Nonviolent Communication, Authentic Relating, Radical Honesty
Before devoting her life to emotional education, Alex was a management consultant at Bain, ran a 1,300-person team in pandemic emergency response, and worked in strategy and operations across sectors.
She is based in Brooklyn, New York.
